Create a colour and light-filled still-life painting in oils

Suitable for beginner to intermediate level artists, some prior experience of oil painting is helpful, but not essential.

During the workshop you’ll learn about the key elements and techniques to consider when painting a still-life in oils, such as drawing (from observation), composition value (tone), form (shape and volume), colour (mixing for a fresh, harmonious painting), paint application - alla prima (in one go), brush strokes and mark-making.

There will be guided practical experimentation, tutor demonstration and individual support throughout to help you build and extend your skills and confidence as we go along.

Introduction to Observational Drawing  

5 week course £80   

 Mondays 1.30 - 4 pm :

20 April, 27 April, 11 May, 18 May and 1 June

Suitable for beginners and those wishing to improve, or refresh their skills

This five week course will provide you with the opportunity to learn about different media, techniques and a range of approaches, helping you to develop confidence with your drawing skills in a supportive environment.   

Some drawing materials will be provided, but you will need to bring a basic drawing kit with you each week (details will be provided).  Paper can be purchased at the arts center.
