About:
Lucy studied painting at Chelsea and then Norwich School of Art. Since graduating she has continued to paint and exhibit regularly, winning recognition and awards for her contemplative still- life paintings. Lucy now lives in Devon in the South West of England and has recently begun working on landscapes inspired by the countryside and coasts of Devon and Cornwall.
Lucy has work in both private and public collections including: University of the Arts London, Hunting Plc , The Laird Group Plc and West Norwich Hospital.
Lucy’s work remains focussed on capturing the light and atmosphere of her subject, whether a quietly and slowly observed studio still-life, or a plein-air landscape. Her small plein-air paintings are strongly informed by a sense of place and time of day, They seek to record the essence and beauty of the experience with an expressive economy of means.
Teaching:
Alongside her studio practice Lucy teaches observational painting and drawing. Currently, Lucy works part-time as an associate lecturer on the University of the Arts London, Foundation course in Exeter and runs a weekly observational drawing class.
Lucy is an experienced teacher and able to work with all skill levels. If you’d like to find out more about future workshops, or would like Lucy to run a course, or workshop for you, please do get in touch.

“Lucy is a great teacher - really thoughtful and inventive in the way she structures the classes through the term, and her suggestions of artists to look at for different ways of approaching the work are always worthwhile and often unexpected. I feel that I am learning new ways of looking. Lucy is very sensitive to everyone in the class, and attentive to their individual needs; it is a pleasure to be taught by her.”
